A second public call has been published for allocation of grants, worth 1 million euros, for project proposals focused on further economic development of selected business locations.

This activity is part of the project “Recovering SMEs in flood affected areas and strengthening their competitiveness based on local economic development partnerships”, which is financed by the EU in the amount of 9 million euros, and implemented by GIZ.

The call is open to all projects of development partnerships that have an effect in the partner municipalities*. The project ideas are expected to contribute to strengthening the management capacity of municipalities for local economic development, as well as inter-municipal cooperation between the public and private sector in the implementation of measures for economic recovery.

In order to support all qualified applicants in preparing quality projects, representatives of GIZ will organise info sessions in Doboj, Banja Luka and Široki Brijeg during the month of April.

The amount provided for individual projects is available in the range from 15,000 to 100,000 euros.

The deadline for proposals runs until 26 May 2017.

The goal of the project “Recovering SMEs in flood affected areas and strengthening their competitiveness based on local economic development partnerships” , for the implementation of which the European Union has provided 9 million, is further economic recovery of areas affected by floods in 2014 through strengthening competitiveness of selected small and medium-sized enterprises and localities in which they operate.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is responsible for the implementation of this project in the period of 2016/2018.  This project is part of the EU ProLocal Program for Local Self-Government and Economic Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is jointly funded by the European Union and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
