EU’s support to BiH is best illustrated through the examples from everyday life

The meeting of journalists, organised by the EU Info Centre in BiH on 26 and 27 October, brought together journalists from Brčko, Bijeljina, Zvornik, Cazin, Bihać, Ugljevik, Mostar, Tuzla, Zenica and Srebrenica. On this occasion, they exchanged experiences with the representatives of the EU Delegation in BiH/EU Special Representative’s Office and discussed what is important for the BiH  public when it comes to covering topics related to the EU.

The Head of Communication of the EU Delegation/EUSR, Jamila Milović-Halilović stressed that the local media are very important communicator in the area of European integration, in particular when it comes to the benefits that these processes have for the lives of people in local communities. The journalists stressed that concrete, everyday examples are the best way to explain to the public how the EU support can change the life of BiH citizens.

They also discussed the current position of this profession in BiH, the relationship between politics and the media, role of public services and local media in providing information on EU-related processes to BiH citizens as well as the EU’s capital investments in the area of cultural heritage’s protection and media programs within the EU funds.

At the very end of this two-day meeting of journalists in Sarajevo, the group visited the newsroom of Al Jazeera Balkans.
