With the aim to support the agri-food sector, the European Union financed investments of 16 companies, entrepreneurs and cooperatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a total of 3.51 million BAM in grants through the project EU4AGRI.

A total of 74 applications were received to the public call for support to investments in processing capacities and marketing of agri-food products that was open from 30 July to 30 September 2020. Out of these 74 applications, 16 fulfilled the public call criteria and presented investments valued at 7.05 million BAM, out of which 3.51 million BAM will be financed by the EU4AGRI project.

Public call was open to companies, entrepreneurs and cooperatives engaged in processing and/or production of agricultural and food products, registered in relevant ministry/institution’s Client registry and that have less than 25% of public capital in its owners’ structure and are not part of the holding. Each applicant had the opportunity to apply for funds in the amount from 60.000 BAM to 300.000 BAM (VAT not included) and had to secure co-financing in the amount of minimum 35% of the total value of proposed investment.

EU4AGRI project will continue to support agri-food sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future. New public call to support investments in processing capacities and marketing of agri-food products will be published in June 2021.

Project EU4AGRI (2020-2024) aims to modernize agri-food sector and support rural economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. EU4GRI is valued at EUR 20.25 million and is financed by the European Union with EUR 20 million and co/financed with EUR 250.000 and implemented by UNDP and Czech Development Agency. Project focuses on raising investment in the agri-food sector and increasing the knowledge and skills level of agricultural producers and other participants in the value chains through the expanded provision of advisory services, as well as by improving economic opportunities in rural areas. The project also enhances the policy environment through a coherent and complementary set of activities, including strengthening of institutional capacities and services, as well as supporting the improvements in policy and regulatory frameworks.
