Europe House welcomed the new head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Soreca, who assumed his duties at the beginning of September 2024.

In order to emphasize the importance of sustainable urban transport in the context of our #OurPlanetOurFuture activities, we promoted European Mobility Week and its theme this year – Common Public Space – by organising cycling events in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar in cooperation with local administrations, partners and cycling clubs. World Car Free Day was also marked through these activities.

Through #EUforYouth activities, we celebrated the diversity and richness of European languages by organising activities on the occasion of European Day of Languages in cooperation with the embassies of EU member states in BiH and the EUNIC network of cultural institutes of EU member states in BiH. Together with the embassies of France, Germany, Austria, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Romania, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Norway and Greece, language classes and informative and educational stands were organized in Europe House with the presence of more than 800 students. On this occasion, we also highlighted the importance and results of the EU4SPORT project, which supports the renovation of sports halls in schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. In cooperation with Al Jazeera Balkans, together with 20 young people from across the region, we talked about digital technologies and the use of mobile phones in documenting and researching topics related to social justice and environmental protection, thereby contributing to EU efforts in the areas of youth empowerment and media literacy of young people in the country and region.

As part of the #EUzaBiH activities, in cooperation with the coordinator of the European Researchers’ Night in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we supported the organisation of activities in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar and Tuzla with the aim of emphasizing the importance of science for young people and students and the support of the European Union to improvement of research through the Horizon Europe program. Through the closEUp campaign, we presented interesting facts about the EU member states Austria and Poland.

Through the activities of #EUforYourRights, we continued the conversation on the topics of violence against women by presenting the exhibition Between Four Walls in Lukavac. During the opening of the exhibition, a discussion was organised with experts and one of the authors of the exhibition in order to further highlight the need for violence prevention and the loudest possible support for these issues.

As part of the #EuropeForCulture activity, and together with the Embassy of Spain in BiH and the UNESCO Office in BiH, we organised the presentation of the Prado Exhibition on the streets of Travnik, after the exhibition was previously shown in Sarajevo and Mostar.
