The International Youth Day is an awareness observation designated by the United Nations. It is observed annually on 12 August. It strives to draw attention to engage the youth of the world in conversations with their local, national, and international leaders. The first IYD was observed on 12 August, 2000.

This year’s theme is: “The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production”. This year’s Day focuses on the leading role of young people in ensuring poverty eradication and achieving sustainable development through sustainable consumption and production, according to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

During IYD, concerts, workshops, cultural events, and meetings involving national and local government officials and youth organizations take place around the world.
