European Mobility Week takes place every year from 16 – 22 September with more than 2000 cities and over 40 countries participating. Since its launch in 2002, the campaign has steadily grown and in 2017 the campaign broke its record with 2526 town and cities from 50 countries taking part in the activities. The week culminates in Car-Free Day, marked on the 22 September.

This year, the theme of the  European Mobility Week is Multimodality – promoting the use of different modes of transport within one or several journeys with the slogan – Mix and move! This year’s European Mobility Week encourages the use of different models of urban transport. Accepting the concept of multimodality enables a different perspective of urban transport and the readiness to use new forms of mobility which creates a positive effect on the environment.

EU Info Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina is taking part in several activities with the aim to promote sustainable mobility and mark the European Mobility Week.

The opening of campaign on the 16 September is marked by organization of the largest cycling promenade in Bosnia and Herzegovina – traditional 7th Tuzla Cycling Promenade in cooperation with Tuzla Cycling Club where more than 2000 cyclists are expected to take part.

The EU team, comprised of diplomats and recreational runners will take part in the 12th Sarajevo Half-Marathon, Relay race or the Fun Part, being part of one of the biggest sporting events in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 16 September.

On 22 September, we are marking the Car-Free Day by organizing the 17th Banja Luka Cycling Promenade in cooperation with the Centre for Environment, National Coordinator of the European Mobility Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
