We commenced our activities in March by celebrating International Women’s Day as part of #EUforYourRights through conversations with young people in Banja Luka, Mostar, Sarajevo and Tuzla. Following the previous success of the exhibition Between Four Walls, which had its premiere at the end of 2023 in Europe House, as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8 in Brčko, the exhibition was presented in the City Hall and opened by Ambassador Johann Sattler, Head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Special Representative in BiH, Zijad Nišić, Mayor of Brčko and Tatjana Ristić, Director of the Gender Association from Brčko.

As part of our #EuropeForCulture activities, a Photo BiH exhibition and workshops were organised in Europe House and several Mostar schools to highlight the importance of introducing new skills to young people. Semezdin Mehmedinović was the guest of the new edition of our Booked literary club, while Tanja Stupar Trifunović was the guest of the new edition of the video series #E2U, during which she also discussed the importance of the European Prize for Literature, of which she is a recipient.

As part of the #OurPlanetOurFuture activity, we marked World Recycling Day (March 18) and International Forest Day (March 21). We discussed the importance of recycling and reducing waste with elementary school students from Bijeljina, Kozarac, Nevesinje and Pale through interactive workshops. We also published two editions of Ekopedia on the topic of recycling and the importance of forests in the context of mitigating the consequences of climate change.

On March 21, 2024, the leaders of the European Union approved the opening of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession negotiations with the European Union. The President of the Council of the European Union, Charles Michel, congratulated the representatives of BiH and emphasized “Your place is in our European family.” As part of the #EUforBiH activities and through cooperation with the Office of the European Union in BiH, we highlighted that Bosnia and Herzegovina has always been at the heart of Europe through a series of activities. Together with partners throughout BiH, we illuminated cultural and historical monuments in Banja Luka, Brčko, Mostar, Sarajevo and Tuzla. Accordingly, we published a video about these activities, and we published a video inviting citizens to join us in Europe House. We also published an edition of #closEUp infographics that represent EU member states, this time presenting Cyprus.

As part of our #EUforYouth activities and through cooperation with numerous elementary schools and libraries, talks with young people were organised primarily in Bihać at the end of March, which will continue in early April in Brčko, Hadžići and Mostar on the occasion of International Children’s Book Day and the Day of European Authors.

Thank you for being with us again this March! We look forward to continuing our friendship through new activities in the coming period!
