Welcome to Europe House!

Our October was marked by the opening of the doors of Europe House in the heart of Sarajevo!

Within the concept of #EuropeHousePresents and #EuropeForCulture, an exhibition of Zula Rabikowska’s works was opened, as well as a selection of award-winning photographs from the Sarajevo Photography Festival.

Continuing the successful cooperation with young people within #EUForYouth, the first #EuropeHouseTalks were organised, during which young activists, representatives of civil society organisations, artists and decision-makers discussed the future of young people with Ambassador Sattler. The most successful program of the European Union for young people, Erasmus+, was presented during #ErasmusDays celebrated in several cities. The European Year of Skills and the importance of developing the diverse skills of young people was emphasized during an engaging workshop within the Garden of Dreams Talent Camp, while young innovators developed new ideas and codes during the 24-hour event, GOOD Hackathon. Through the video series #E2yoUth, the stories of Naida Hodžić, the author of a documentary film about the Erasmus+ program, and stories about skate culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina, were presented.

Through the #EUzaBiH campaign, in cooperation with the embassies of the EU member states in BiH, a friendly football match with FK Željezničar was organised, which concluded our marking of European Week of Sports. In an effort to improve media freedom and emphasize the importance of the work of media operators, an EU awards ceremony for investigative journalism and a Media and Information Literacy Fair were organised. Two editions of our closEUp infographics were published, which presented the cultural and historical landmarks of two EU member states – the Czech Republic and Denmark. Three editions of the My EU Story campaign were also published, representing the concrete results of the European Union’s support through photo stories of beneficiaries of the funds, including a story on Livno cheese production, as well as the stories of Đenana and Azra from Mostar, who presented their Erasmus+ experiences. We also published two editions of the infographic Did You Know? and Apply! about the EU supercomputer, as well as a call for applications to the Local Partnerships for Employment project.

Three editions of our #E2U campaign were published, presenting the work of the Livno cheese dairy, the Erasmus+ program and the construction of sports fields in Teslić municipality.

As part of the #OurPlanetOurFuture campaign, workshops and a lecture were organised for journalists and media workers on reducing carbon footprints in accordance with the policies of the European Union. Two new editions of Ecopedia presented tips on energy efficiency and sustainable city management on the occasion of World Cities Day.

We visited 25 schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina to talk to the youngest citizens about the European Union, and we hosted one school at Europe House in Sarajevo.

During October, 19 events were held in Europe House in Sarajevo with almost 2,000 participants.

Thank you for being with us again this October! We look forward to continuing our friendship with new activities in November!
